Nantucket Nectars Implements Oracle's E-Business Suite

Nantucket Nectars, a national manufacturer of high-quality juice, has selected Oracle Corp.'s E-Business Suite — comprised of Oracle Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications — to help the company better understand its business and improve relationships with its distributors.

Nantucket Nectars (Nantucket, MA) expects its Oracle-based system to improve production order management, inventory allocation and marketing support for its distributors, allowing the company to win, retain and grow more profitable distributor relationships.

Integrated Applications Provide 360º View of Distributors and the Business
Nantucket Nectars chose Oracle's e-business suite because it is capable of providing a fully functional and integrated suite of applications. The Oracle-based system, expected to be implemented in March, 2000, will replace several disparate systems that made collecting and analyzing data prohibitively difficult, including a Windows-based financials system; various Excel spreadsheets used for planning, purchasing, billing, order processing and inventory management; an Access database used for marketing campaign management; and Power Play, a polling service which reports on the number of cases sold by distributor per month.

"What Oracle is going to do is let us integrate all of the numbers," said Nantucket Nectars' Drew Farris, director of Information Technology. "We're going to have our depletion data tied into our financial data, which will be tied into our compensation data, which will be tied into our sales data. With Oracle, we'll be able to see all the pertinent information in one report, one place, and one depository, allowing us to more accurately analyze data and make more informed business decisions."

Power of the Internet
Nantucket Nectars also selected Oracle software because the company wanted to leverage the power of the Internet. By simplifying the order management system with Oracle Order Management, Nantucket Nectars will empower its distributors with the ability to enter, track and adjust orders on the Web.

Integration between Oracle Order Management and Oracle Field Sales will allow Nantucket Nectar's more than 130 sales reps in the field to have access to this information via Nectar Net, the company's sales-focused corporate intranet. Based on an individual's Web site logon, each sales rep will be able to view personalized pipeline opportunities and compensation data in addition to distributor and sales history information.

Due to the integration between Oracle e-business applications, order information can flow seamlessly into Nectar Net, providing sales reps with the added ability to view booked orders, purchased items, and transaction data. As a result, sales reps can better understand their distributors, manage their accounts more effectively, and identify new opportunities more readily.
